How do we know Dynomite did not say the same? maybe Tony pushed him to push it?

If I walk into Pitlane and say Mick just go nuts, he says look pazzo it's beyond the limit of the motor, and I say don't worry as I'm paying I know the risks involved then Mick should not be held responsible.

There 3 sides to every story Paulie

Tony side,

Dynomite side,

And the truth side of it. What you have been told might not be the truth.

The truth is below. It's the only side anybody needs to know.

Not saying they did or did not, just saying before we start blaming Dynomite for Keith's car just wait to we see what the problem is. When you push your car even a little over stock, there is every chance something will go wrong.

It is definitely more powerful than stock, but 320rwkw on low boost (13psi) is certainly manageable... for some back story... The previous owner sold it to me with it running 22+ PSI (probably did some permanent damage to the oil gears or valve springs/valvetrain), I found this out by putting in a good boost gauge and WHAT DA FARKKKK... The stock gauge showed no issues... backed it off to 16PSI and left it. Turbo failed shortly after (no surprise, running that high, with a blocked in-line filter...) replaced the core of the turbo, all good. After this, took the car to Dyno-Mite and got it re-tuned correctly after getting an intercooler/intake/plenum kit, car was running CONSIDERABLY cooler and getting a sh*tload better fuel economy with absolutely no sign of knock. Fair to say the dyno-mite tune was a sh*tload better, the previous tuner (if anybody AT ALL other than my RIGHT FOOT) is to blame.

If you ran it at Calder with a large ticking sound you said you could here what did you expect ? could it be heard with the bonnet down ?

I'm not that stupid, I would NEVER run a car hard that has an obvious issue. Issue started, I bailed Calder straight away, wasting the $130 I spent, plus towing fees

:(

If its ticking like a bent rod, you will notice it with the bonnet down, and the stereo on also.

This is correct. Issue was prominent even in the dynamat'd cabin. Clearly something mechanical had failed.

Spotted Ke1th down at Dynomite getting some new oil pump gears.

This is partially correct....

Dion has advised me that the Oil Pump gears have let themselves go (something I should have considered after reading so much about oil pump gears here on the forum, but alas, hindsight is always 20/20). This in turn of course lacked oil delivery to the head, and caused a fault in the timing chain, which when I went to leave Calder, it put too much stress on the timing chain and it probably snapped, causing the catastrophic running failure of the engine. Not 100% on any piston/cylinder/conrod/bearing damage, but either way, while the engine is apart, new bits will be required.

My options are roughly the following.

1. Rebuild the current motor with reasonable rods, new oil pump etc etc.

2. Get an FG short, put some decent pistons in it, oil pump etc etc.

3. Get another standard BA/BF F6 motor...

4. Go with a built motor (most expensive, but best option, longevity and power-wise).

Thoughts?

Bummer Keith.

Depend on budget really.

Option 2 or 4 I would think.

Good luck with everything.

I agree with Glouva, 4. if you got the money. Just a shame to see such a nice car off the road.

Dont go with a built motor unless you want to push things past the point of a fg f6 short...

I'm already "pot-committed", so to speak :) if I get a good deal, who am I to pass it up...

Thanks for the well-wishes mate.

Well, I'll max out the turbo, if I go with a built motor, so does an FG short handle 450-500rwkw? hmmm.

FREAKY, my cash is as limited as anybody elses. lol.

WTF on the 2nd bit...
