. Is it in your name!! Once modified you're fisted though!

Yep, in my name. I have been with SGIO since I got my license, never had a claim and also have motorbike and home contents insured with them. My XR6 Turbo cost around $1,100 to insure with them though...I questioned why the GT was so cheap...but they followed and said it was legit so I ain't complaining.

SGIO are pretty good with mods, as long as they're legal they'll cover them...you don't even need to declare them, they're just automatically covered.

When I bought mine new, it was cheaper to insure a new one compared to a second hand...due to the number of claims against them.

My story for those new to the forum

-Buy XR6 Turbo with 37,000km on odo

-Full comp with RAC, about $1700 or something

-Own 2 weeks

-Crash it in minor bingle that hits bonnet/guard/bumper/headlight and few panels on a RAV4, also exhaust ripped up over the wheel as he tried to drive it, LOL

-RAC pay out 17 grand in repairs

-11 months later get renewal from RAC

-They want $2,500 or something

-Sign up with AAMI instead for $1500 and never had to claim since except for 2 windscreens thanks to stone chips, now down to $600 ish with maxed excess

Helps if you have multiple auto policies plus bulding and contents with the same insurer. Also age, location and a clean record helps.

Mine is insured with the mafia at the moment. Premiums are pretty steady at about 2 to 3 errands a months. Access is around 1 to 2 knee caps depending on incident. But includes free towing and life time no claim bonus cover.
