Squeeze first out, don't mash it.

Other than that, don't do big burnouts on street tyres. They get too hot and go to mush. ( Ever done a track day?? ) hot street tyres are HOPELESS. They were never designed to grip at there optimum levels over normal temps. Couple of seconds out of the water should do it, second gear. Gives them a clean - that's all.

short burnouts on radial tyres as they dont like to much heat. its prointless to do half track burnouts on radials as they arent meant to do this.... just get some type of heat and clean the crap off them is more than enough. if your running MT street slick then this is a different story...... get some good heat in these so a little bigger burnout.

Totally agree here on both of these posts; the idea is to just get any dirt/water/excess off the tires and not turn them into mush (for street radials). Also agree with F6 Ute's advice (first quote) on not just dumping your foot to the floor straight away off the line (not just for the obvious reasons of wheel spin). The ECU is designed to protect itself and will detect you ramming the pedal to the metal (haha) at take off so it will seek to limit the power to protect the car. Ease onto the throttle initially then work it to the floor and drive straight!! lol You should notice a better 60" time.

2. do a good 2nd or 3rd gear burnout, at least 10 seconds and creep forward out of the water

10 seconds seems a bit long

I just ducked out and had a crack for a bit (bored at work). After about 5+ attempts no luck. To much RPM and I got wheel spin Not enough and it would Bog down. And with a rapidly dying T5 the only way I could get a quick shift into 3rd was double clutching (which I ain't that good at). 1st to about 5 grand, single into 2nd till bout 4.5 double into third seemed to work fairly good. Tyres at about 40psi.

40PSI is going to hurt you at launch, the tyres will spin too easy try anywhere from 32-35psi on the street, and lower for the strip

oh, and get a T56! :spoton:

Yeah 1st time I singled 2nd to 3rd....CRUNCH :spoton: whoops. 40psi isn't to bad, 60% tread is. Whats with traction control too, does it turn back on every time you start the car?

I cant offer you some advise. You can take it or ignor it.

Never ever slip a cerametalic clutch over 1800. I had an extreme heavy duty and welded the plate to the flywheel. These clutches were never meant to slip. Then again no clutch is meant to slip over that much but it just comes down to some are better at slipping then others.

I now run a mal wood setup (organic) and will never run a cerametalic again.

My 2 cents.

Cheers

Adrian

Well, I thought I'd dig up an old thread!

After last night I managed to get one 2.0 60' on a 13.0 ET, that was enough for the clutch though, its starting to slip now, and can't handle a full bore launch anymore. I think it was just time for the clutch to go anyway, its the fourth or fifth time I've been to the drags, and after the 5th run last night I decided to stop other wise I would've had to tow it for no reward.

So it looks like I'll be off the track for a couple of weeks while I get a new clutch, thinking Mal Wood Option 5.

I'm not very keen on another single plate ceramic - good clamping force, crap drivability and only one shot at slipping it before it tries to weld itself the the flywheel! I'm open to suggestions and I'm keen to see how 7MA61 goes with the Textralia Twin Plate from CV.
