The distinct impression I've gotten so far is that the owners seem over it and no longer really care. I was also speaking to the neighbours last week and they know the owners (kids go to school together still) and apparently the owners were talking about possibly selling it just before I moved in. So I decided it might be worth asking the question if they'd consider selling... And with respects to work I put forward a proposed justification for a new role creation for myself in which I feel I'd add significant value. In combination I also put in an application form for work to cover the cost of me studying a master's degree. All-in-all I'd say I don't like my chances...but both my manager and manager once removed seemed open to the idea, didn't shoot it straight down and encouraged me to put forward a proposal for consideration, so it's nice that they're at least prepared to humour me with it, regardless of whether it gets turned down or not. I realised the other day that half the jobs I've ever gotten were because I asked the questions of people who weren't currently hiring, but saw use for me.
