Officials say drunken elephants in India's north-east have trampled three people to death, including a four-year-old boy, and critically injured his eight-year-old brother.

The herd trampled the victims, who were all from the same family, after guzzling rice beer in Teok Kathoni, a tribal village 370 kilometres east of Assam's main city Guwahati.

Village elder Dhiren Gadak says villagers tried to chase away the elephants by beating drums and bursting firecrackers, but they "tore apart a hut with the family inside".

The elephants - confronted by shrinking forest cover and human encroachment on their turf - have increasingly strayed into villages, searching for food and attacking people.

During the past fortnight, elephants have been wreaking havoc in Assam, especially in villages where tribes brew rice beer.

"We've reports of several incidents of elephants going berserk looking for rice beer, plundering granaries and tearing apart huts and killing human beings," elephant specialist Kushal Konwar Sharma said.

LOL I doubt the accuracy of these things, seeing as it has to be measured on level ground ect

Apparently they were tested at the drags and they are 1 to 2 trenths accurate. Its all good this car will have to do me until the new model ford comes out when I will get myself a new XR6T. Well that's the plan anyway. I have to say though these dunlops really are a piece of and I only drive an NA which doesn't have that much power but just trying to launch the car aggresively results in a decent amount of wheel spin and the tail hanging sideways. But I suppose its good in a way because hanging the tail out is always fun.
