Actually happy to have a car problem today. Car has had an intermittent rough idle for ages, and occasionally (once every few months) goes absolutely nuts when put into gear. Turning it off and on again sorts it. Haven't tried too hard to find it as the EL idled rough for the whole time I had it and absolutely nothing would fix it, so am a bit over chasing rough idles. Anyway, pulled in the driveway last night and flicked the high beams on to check the globes were OK as I needed to order a new high/low globe on one side. Idle was already a touch rough and noticed the idle went rougher as soon as I turned high beam on. If I'm in gear and lights on, idle is rough. Lights off, idle goes smooth. At least now I have something repeatable and predictable to go chasing. Think I need to start checking the alternator and earthing as the battery is less than a year old (and issue existed before that).
