not a fan of slope adjusters on head units... they tend to boost/lower certain parts of songs you thought already sounded awesome... just my experience though (and not with an alpine HU crossover like your one).

Are we both talk about the attenuation slope on the cross over?

Edit- amp is 12db per octave but HU is adjustable from 1db to 24. Seems to fill the holes better.

Either attenuation or frequency slopes tend to do the same thing, so I'd say so haha

EDIT again: just go with whatever you think sounds better, as it'll be primarily your ears enjoying it.

I have a skin graft on my left hand that's quite an accurate temp gauge. Anything about aprox 60 deg is painful so I can tell you it's less than that using the hu crossovers.

still not helpful if it's not painful using the amp crossovers :) haha

so heat from an amplifier is a product of producing more amps or handling large variants of input frequency controls... using the crossovers on the amp would take away some of the processing and would then by definition run cooler than any "full" signal coming from the HU... but of course that's only a theory, much like your results :)

It's was with the amp crossovers.... Hence me bringing it up.

Why would the amp need to work harder to process a signal that's already been processed by the hu? In my mind it would be doing less work?

amps do rudimentary processing at best... for the most part they just amplify :)

Probably running cooler cos you have a steeper attenuation curve with the head unit crossover than on the amp
