I always roll a block of wood ontop of the jack as well just to stop little dints. As said drive car onto blocks of wood or caravan ramps or something first. My car is pretty low and I still do it without stands when im feeling lazy, jack car up enough on front passenger side to get at sump plug and filter, I do pop a stand under it while im underneath, should never be that lazy. Then I just drop it back to level to drain (need to position pan carefully..) 1
