I've definitely done it on my ute. I cleaned underneath the coil cover bolts with a Dremel and wire brush before putting o-rings on. When I washed the taxi engine bay a couple of nights ago just a leeeeeeeeeeeeeedle bit of water got past. Yup, one spark plug hole... full of bubbling water. Oops. Or if you do wash, cover the "rustable" portions and spray the fark out of it and then let it sit to dry for a few full days (in summer, preferably).

In contrast to that, mechanic work uses went hard all over the engine bay with a pressure washer trying to go the extra mile I guess. Pick the sv6 up and it ran like it was on 2 cylinders. Coils full of water exactly as above. Need to be carefull around that area evidently.. same car skipped both chains which is apparently really common with them. Those sidi alloytec things are rubbish
