First day of holidays I thought I'd get around to fixing my fuel sender problem as it's been sitting on dead empty for a few months.
Easy fix once I removed all the fuel system and battery from the tray. Found the fuel sender arm in the bottom of the tank. Turns out the little brass retaining plug in my herrod fuel module was machined a little small so the arm just wiggles out. Put the brass piece in the vice and squished it. Made it about 0.1mm bigger and now it secures properly. Being Good Friday it was an extensive 10 beer job hahaf5f1c24db6ae60077c08d9019bd1e2cd.jpgd4874e1746c7a517ce3b745c2784bcf1.jpg

Had a pretty productive day.
@Camo86T is a bloody legend.
Got the new turbo front cover and hot side pipe welded up with plazmaclamp flanges.

Got home, pulled the old turbo out, the manifold, dump and all the studs. Made a mess getting the heat wrap off which pretty much crumbled.

New exhaust gaskets and studs, new turbo gasket and studs, fitted the new dump studs.
Fitted a new turbosmart actuator, 14 Psi spring, set the preload and bolted it up.
Will bolt the dump in tomorrow and top the coolant up.
Will give it a week or so before wrapping the manifold again to make sure the nuts are tight after a few heat cycles.

I didn't get as much done today as I would have liked cos the weather was crap. I'll get the actuator clevis to play nice with the engine mount and heat shield tomorrow, as it needs a couple more mm clearance. If the kids can play nice I can probably knock the rest out tomorrow.

Here are a couple of nearly halfway pics...

sweeet.

Quick question. in the first photo there is a black plate on top of the rocker cover.

What is that plate and where does it go?

BTW that engine bay needs a wash. :P

It'll get one once it goes back together. Not a lot of point where I live though, cos it'll look like that again in about a week.

Well it's nearly done. Just gotta make a hotside pipe. The bloody intercooler has a 2.3 inch inlet just to be difficult. I'll sort something out.

Went for a quick drive anyway and it sounds heaps better and quieter. It whistles instead of going psssshhhhh.

No leaks too which is always good.

I compared my gtx v1 on the SR20 to an angry drill than a normal turbo noise. but they are great.
