Worldwide "epidemic" in the tech industry is the chip shortage caused by high demand and low supply, factories couldn't keep up due to COVID and the worst draughts causing plants to completely shut down and not manufacture parts.

People don't realise how much water and electrical resources goes in to making components electronic components.

Very few, if any at all, factories are planned to be built in the near future to combat the supply issue because of the location requirements and the extremely high cost associated with building these factories.

We haven't even hit the worst of it, if the trend keeps going the way it is we will have a serious issue.

Toyota and GM have already shut down facilities because they cannot produce cars - all because a few ICs (the size of the end of your pinkie is most cases) are not being produced.

The reality is, if COVID didn't happen we'd still end up in this situation, it was just not forecasted to be so early. It was the perfect storm
