It will be done before the gyprock goes up. I'm just getting ahead so when the time comes I know what I want/where and hopefully sound like I know what im talking about.

 

Location I think it will be in the study nook which is central of the house.

 

I rang foxtel the other day and told then building new house and do you want to send your installation person out before gyprock goes up.

Foxtel lady said for me to get the electrician to do it. HMMMM ok.

I then asked and if I dont how much will it cost when we move in.......... $100. sold ill wait.

The electrician will cost more than that.

I second everyone else saying to get hard wiring. Make sure it's cat6 with good quality outlets on both ends, I use krone (te connectivity) brand outlets and they cost me $65 for 10 (wallplate jacks)!

Pix fox are kunts... wont do installs pre finish coz theyre techs arent tradies and cant be on building sites.

U might be stuck with the point in a crap spot not exactly where u want it ... u can ask the sparky to put a sh*t cable in and label it foxtel and they can use it as a pull throigh for when the fox guy comes after....

If I ever build I'll be getting double power points all over the joint (only pay builder to do ones on single brick/install walls though) and putting bulk conduits EVERYWHERE.

Yep, conduits waiting for me on all solid internal walls!  Should have paid for double RJ45 outlet plates to be put in place but not connected looking back on it, going to have to buy them to match now anyway :/

 

Or can you punch out holes on blank plates?

Nope, you cant. 

 

But brings up a point I was going to say earlier but work got in the way. Have the builders put in conduits to all outlets. and use 25mm if possible. ESPECIALLY to your ensuite (people want tastics/heat lamps but dont realise it needs more cables) and run separate ones where you want data outlets. even if you dont have them install the cable, the conduits will save massive headache. Ill be doing quite a few things differently next time myself

..... depending on setup, not ideal. There is a calculation of number of outlets to what size cable/circuit breakers for each power circuit. "Maximum demand" for those who want to look into it. Its an Australian Standard thing.

This, put in the conduit (or cable if its a timber joint) and will make it way easier. And think about if you want a second foxtel box, install a second cable to whatever room you want it.

This is right, but hard wired will give whatever connection you have minimum restrictions.

What Pissing me off is that no one has been on site all week. Scaffolding up and by contract I have paid for 6 weeks. Anything over 6 weeks and I have to pay for it, says the contract.

Will guess what MOFO builder not happening.

Every day and everything you do Mr Builder I document including times. 

 

Whilst im still on a rant just received invoice for external walls. Here's something Mr Builder how about you finish the external walls first before asking for money just like the windows that I have paid for and 5 still not in and 3 missing glass.
