I wholeheartedly disagree. Snagit is super simple to just go "print screen" select the area, copy and paste...if that's all you want to do. But the ability to automatically pick the whole window makes it faster, plus adding text or a box to highlight something important is soooo much faster than snipping tool.

too bad the sharing capacity means you need to actually have snagit allowed on your network... no thanks, hugely, from a network security standpoint. :P it's just shit for sharing, which is the primary purpose of screen captures. snipping tool quickly screen highlights and then highlights + copy + share. done... it's so easy and local.

Can honestly say I've never once required that functionality.

yep, but to use and allow snagit to work properly, that's a requirement... so it has to be taken into account in it's overall rating.

I use it properly everyday for work. Screen cap, highlight, paste into email, send to client...

well, for that specific purpose, snipping would be easier because you don't have to install a 3rd party bit of software and the "basic" sort of functionality is exactly all that's required. Sure, snagit has heaps more other useless features, but for the simplicity and usage of snipping tool, it's easier and just as simple to use.

No, Keith, it's not. After using Snagit to do exactly what I've described going back to try doing it with snipping tool is a truly woeful experience.
