ok the guys who built my pc said I could upgrade to any of the following gpu cards

 

GTX 1050 Ti

GTX 1650

GTX 1660 Ti or super

 

they said maybe some RTX cards but probably pushing the budget

 

any ideas how to compare which is best vs each other? or suggestions?

If you want a budget card look at AMD offerings. Much better performance per dollar usually. Gamers nexus and hardware unboxed have a million gpu comparisons on YouTube.

 

To compare cards you type into Google, "this card vs that card", that will show you userbench or whatever it's called. Click and browse.

 

Considering a 1050 series card is only good for the bin, likewise a 1660 card, do some research before wasting money on something that piss poor.

Having just upgraded a 1050 ti to a 3080 ti, can confirm this man speaks truth. My 1050 ti wasn’t worth the board it was attached to.

Have a look on eBay for a used card.

 

Here's one, it's probably not a lot more than a new low end card.

 

You can offset an old PC with a decent GPU and a high resolution monitor. The CPU won't have to do as much work with a high res monitor so you get more value from a better GPU.

What's the budget? Tell us your absolute max and we can work out what's the best card for you.

 

Other relevant info to provide is your screen resolution, type of games you play, fps you are targeting and whether ray tracing is important to you. Fwiw ray tracing is sh*te unless you go high end, so for now just focus on rasterization imho.

 

If your budget is $500 and you want a new card, go for an AMD 6700xt. Nvidia has nothing at that price point that can compete with AMD.

I just built a buget PC for a freind last week

We used a RX 6700 XT for the video card and I was very impressed

Im still rocking a GTX 1080 which is fine for me as I hardly game at all these days

I did a quick furmark bench and at the 1080p preset it punched out 195 FPS, my old 1080 could only manage 120 FPS 

the RX 6700 XT was $599 at PC Case Gear
