How long do you suggest? It's currently 10min...

Remove the limit totally would be my preference.

Haven't really seen a problem on other forums where the content is able to be changed after the original post.

Hmm something to consider. Ultimately it's not my decision to remove the time limit altogether...

I'm of the opinion that 10min is more than enough to proof read what you've just posted (hopefully a 2nd time - first one should be before you hit the submit post button xD ) and any other thoughts/information can just go in a new post after the time limit is up.

1. This way your post count is higher.

2. We are not concerned with the database size for posts specifically.

3. Threads of discussion are clearer more often than not this way.

4. More mocking occurs for mistakes made (and general banter from that). I think it improves the forum when you can't undo your stuff-ups :spoton:

Of course moderators and CCs need the unlimited time to clean up threads and correct information within posts.

One obvious example of unlimited editing is WhingePool, and I personally find it annoying that conversation flow gets so interrupted/changed at any moment over there.

Haha just don't hit "submit post" until it's all hosted and typed/copy-pasted into the box?

The whole "preview" thing is a holdover from the old version of the forum software. The idea of the html compatible "editor box" is that it's a WYSIWYG editor so the contents you see should be exactly how the post comes out once submitted. (as long as you're using a browser and not an app like Tapatalk, of course :P ) this editor type renders the old "preview" method obsolete.

I get the principle keif but being able to edit greater than 10 min isn't a massive ask really is it ?
