helium got super expensive because it's actually a known finite resource... it's light enough to escape out of the atmosphere and into space... 😞

I use  ultra high purity argon in G2 and D size. Way cheaper the larger the size

buy yourself gas flow meter so you can measure the output at the nozzle

most regulators read incorrect  

12 to 15 Lpm should be enough if you are welding inside

also, using gas lens improves argon distribution so you can turn your flow rate down even more

TIL - Helium for TIG welding Aluminium. Never knew.

 

Back in the day, ya just grabbed some old fencing wire and the trusty oxy-acet rig and burnt away.

Steel only though - NO ONE welded aluminium. That was devils work.

Today's job, 12mm stainless balustrade for glass, sanded to a 600 grit finish

Will be electroshined on completion

Only 74 to make [emoji39]
