I had to fit a new helicoil in my au xr 6 .and I tell you it was not easy to do .that leaver would never in its live time open by itself . maybe if you would drive it on corrugated roads ,but even then you would have more chance of getting hit by a meteorite .I will definitely get one for my ute .I change oil every 5000 klm .I have seen what long oil change intervals can do to a engine (sludge )

how about fitting a zip tie to it if you are worried about it ? but honestly I can not ever see how it could open by it self .

When it arrives and I fit it I'll see what angle it sits at and how well the tab springs back. If I'm paranoid I might zip tie it I guess.
