So.. I do have one question though.. Ethanol is a solvent, so it can and will break down oils, it absorbs more moisture out of the air then fuel, and it burns cooler.

I'm not bagging the performance benefits and I'm sorry if this has been answered in the thread.. I tried to read the whole thing but I came back a few times and going to last unread post got me a bit lost at times.

1. Solvents break down oils
   
2. Ethanol can absorb a higher hydrogen content out of the air then standard fuels
   
3. Cooler burning does often leave a substantial amount of trace
   
4. High Hydrogen levels in burnt residue combined with solvent = corrosive.
   
5. Corrosive is not necessarily bad because contact times etc could be low, due to the constant circulating of oil..
   

So when running E85 and considering long term impacts of an engine not actually designed for it, do you need to run a more resilient oil or anything because my thoughts would be that Ethanol is breaking down the oils in the engine substantially quicker?

If solvent is getting into oil and 90% of oil filters are paper based, is E85 risking breaking down filters that again aren't specifically designed for it?

These thoughts could be completely wrong, again I have no evidence to prove this as it's just some dots I linked together in my head.

that's a great demo of how clean it burns.

one question, in the other video the GRM guy said that the exhaust runs hotter and they dont last as long.

is this the same in a road car as well?

if your exhaust doesnt last as long that could be a negative
