"Acquire another BF side airbag seat mate. 

 

You can't substitute the yellow airbag connector with a normal connector as it has a special earthing bar to tells the RCM if there is an issue with the connector.

 

From Memory the wiring colours are the same. I'll dig out both diagrams when I get home. "

 

 

 

Thanks a lot for the help Ralph, I had a look at the plug, and it looks like the metal internal tab bridges across the red and black wires- seems like that would just be a dead short so clearly there is something I dont understand here!

The male that plugs into this connector has no metal to contact this so I assume it pushs this bridging tab down which connects something within the plug?

 

 

Even if I were to remove the plugs from my old seats, I would still need to connect it to the old wiring, so do I crimp and heatshrink the wires together ?, as I understand soldering will alter resistance within the wiring and upset the RCM.

 

I cant find a supplier of these plugs or I would just buy new and assemble on my old wires, Do you know of where these might be available?

I had thought of using these till your revelation regarding the earthing strip.

My other thought was ,is this plug attached to a short loom that plugs into the side airbag itself , if so perhaps these are available from Ford parts, if I could find a part number.

You'll be fine rejoining the airbag wires as long as it done correctly. Ford have a method described in the manual. I'll dig that out as well.

Sorry to hear of the death within the business, that's my biggest fear as a business owner.

Getting staff through the day and home to their family safe is a big responsibility.

Im part of a large Resource company, but the guy who was killed was working in a role I used to work in so it hits home
