I finally got it sorted. For some random reason my wireless mouse adapter extension cable stopped working and the mouse buttons reversed themselves.

What the hell kind of crap is that?

well done on getting it sorted, either way, as issues like that are a little frustrating. :P

All I did to fix it was plug in the dp cable and restart the computer.

The mouse was gone so I figured that there was another display being detected.

This wasn't the case as I could navigate with the keyboard so I plugged in a usb wired mouse and it worked, except the buttons were reversed.

I pulled the bt mouse adapter from the extension and chucked it in a usb port and it worked again. It wouldn't detect in the extension cable anymore for some reason.

It is frustrating when so much bullsh*t happens for apparently no reason.

yeah; there's some protocols you follow as an IT hardware troubleshooter and you basically did some of it - it begins by basically plugging in nothing then plugging in one thing per reboot until you either find the faulty piece of hardware or the action of resetting the plugs is enough to solve the problem. :)

What sh*ts me is that even when I select the type of input on the monitor it reckons there's no cable connected.

I'm like "don't farken lie you flamin pile of sh*t, I can see the farken cable is plugged in" lol.

yep, it's very similar to when you're working on a car and you're like "flamin' nut won't bloody undo, I'm applying enough force" and bam, it strips and you utter a few choice words or phrases haha

Haha that one nut that should come off in 20 seconds but you end up having to get the welder out to weld another nut in top of it?
