^^^ hopefully we can find some answers. I just think cams that needed to be swapped out for a car that has had very good maintenance and not driven partially hard needs to find the cause.

I Don't Want To speak For anyone But yes Full syn will Have no effect on The cams.

The camshaft fear is from back in 2 valve, OHV days

Ohv engines run STUPID stiff springs to get all that weight away and let the valve close. So if an engine oil had low zinc it round its cams in no time.

It was more of a bad engine, than bad oil

So arronm can full syn oil be ruled out?

Probably, but I havent seen the cams yet.

What I have seen before is cams that have been heat treated and then heavily ground, removing a large portion of the case. And the result is exactly what is seen in the photos.

Are there any billet steel cams for these engines. This will solve the problem as small rollers (like a Expensive Daewoo VN V6) don't really like cast iron but a large roller as on the e-series never causes problems. A medium sized roller with poor hardening might just cause issues sometimes.

This, no use case hardening and then taking off meat.
