Wa Maintenance Day Take 5

4pm is a bit late to undertake anything too serious though.

In my life I start to think about car maintenance at 4pm... at 10pm I figure that I should get off my arse and go do the work... sometime well after midnight I sometimes actually do get off my arse and go do the work. I was replacing the brakes on girlfriend's Late model camira a few weeks ago when it was 3.5 degrees outside (open air carport).

You know you're running a tad late when you're rushing to finish the job before the day driver turns up at 7am (ie taxi).

The only tasks on my car are fitting the turbo oil line kit and replacing the upper control arms. With the upper control arms, the bolts in the wheel arches won't come out, so the control arms will have to come out by undoing the bracket nuts in the engine bay. I won't be wildly upset if the upper control arms don't get done.

My XR6 Turbo ute is unlicenced (ie auction/crash repair) so I'm thinking of getting a Temporary Movement Permit when I wake up on Sunday (3pm-ish), come along to either say hello or get supervision for fitting the oil feed kit, and then getting the wheel alignment done at Wilkinson Suspension at midday Tuesday (so that I can get the car back home before the 48 hour permit expires).

Oh yeah, if anyone wants to do diff oil then I've also got a Motive Products Power Fill bottle for putting new oil into the diff, along with an extra-long allen key for removing the fill bolt.

Stupid family are having a lunch thing on Sunday and only decided to tell me this morning!

So thanks for the offer Steve but you won't need to bring your spring compressors for me anymore (unless someone else needs them).

I'm sure my car would have just taken up valuable space for someone who actually needs to be there anyway :/

Yeah I'm still keen to turn up and learn a few things and have a go at my fuel filter.

Wont be until nearly lunch time as I coach my sons footy team. And if its raining or looks like its going to rain = will not be there. sorry.

Fuel filter is a very easy one to do. It's underneath on the passenger side, about half way along the car. Get the car up on some ramps and it's easy to access and replace.

I had a go at shackle bushes for the first time ever tonight (ie for wagons and utes). Turns out to be a very easy job. Damn shame that one of the bolts has got a bad thread, so now I can't finish putting it back together. Will get a replacement bolt ASAP.

Weather isn't an issue mate. I have plenty of garage space for two cars to be worked on, or three in a pinch.

Plus a big arse driveway for minor stuff if it's not raining.

Phil has the experience with this bike model so he maybe able to help me.
