the problem with Generators is that you have to turn them on when the power goes out.

so you could be without power for a minute or 3.

With a UPS, it is always on as the battery is charging while it is plugged in.

As soon as the power outage happens, the UPS automatically kicks in and your pc/server won't even notice it.

you can carry on gaming to your hearts delight, as long as your adsl/nbn router is connected to it as well.

a 1KVA ups should last you 5-10 minutes with a server, screen and router connected to it.

I have a 3KVA ups at home and the fridge runs off it, if I need it to. I am also able to run my server and lights off it, if need be.

Just ordered an APC 1000VA unit.

Bonus - I ordered an "old stock, never used" older model pretty decently discounted.

Just received the current model instead - 700W vs 600W so even more emergency downtime and even better discount :D

edit: almost 2 hours (1:42) runtime from the machine (or so it tells me)

Will likely be higher in the event of a power out given that there will be no PC's making the server do any work if there's no power ;)

Working my way through a bunch of religious inbred redneck nutbag cultists in Far Cry 5 at the moment.

Haven't played FC since 3 - is quiet fun :)

No more friggin towers :)

I haven't finished fc4 yet so I'll wait a while before picking it up.

Are the graphics much better?

Didnt play 4 so not sure.

Killed the 1st "boss" last night so about a 3rd of the way through the story.

Heaps of stuff to do though, in any order which works better for me than the older ones with a line to follow.

So far in Project Cars 2 I've managed a 2:08 around Bathurst in the fg v8 supercar. I can see that I'll be able to go faster but man is that thing a handful to keep on the road!

This is in time trial mode with no assists and no setup. I'm number 408 on the leader board. Look me up lol.

I can see me getting a 2:06 with a few hours at it and a 2:05 eventually.

The record is 2 flat but that is some bullsh*t. The car won't do it.

Haha I've only been practising for a few days. I'll get er down but 5 seconds less is asking for something.

At any rate it's cheaper than the real thing but still a lot of fun.
