your computer doesn't have to be connected to the internet for the software to work, I know that much. And you only pay for the software once, not on a per tune basis.

as for the rest, not sure.

So how do they turn it off? Not online and a one off payment would mean they need to personally come to the shop and unplug the comp....

Headsex can you shed some light on how they can/could turn it off

it needs to be updated regularaly and that normally only 300 tunes between updates is possible and any one set to auto update will already be locked out

The software has a online update built into it. You have to keep updated or else you run out of "flash burns" which decrement everytime you upload a tune to a box..

So technically if you avoid updating your ADvantage 3 software, you will run out of flash counters, and be forced to do a update if you want to reset your flash counter to flash more boxes..

This will indeed, push customers to start using other products like, HPTuners and Sniper for instance..

This is seriously f*cked up. Burn them at the stake I say.

Why dont they just say no more reflashing to a new car but no, take it to the extreme.

Time for Sniper and HP Tuners to step up to the mark and improve their product. They'll capture the market quite easily if SCT's strategy is as described.

There will be plenty of tuning shops annoyed with this situation and will look elsewhere for another tuning solution.
