Hence cracked next to the weld and propagated from there.

But seeing as it started at the approximate 12 o'clock position ( top half of dump), I would say a restrained section trying to expand across many heat cycles has contributed to the crack initiation. Beats buying a new one I spose. I also gave the car a much needed wash and chamois dry after driving around the dirt roads recently. I'll wax it in the morning cos I kinda ran out of time this evening. 1
