Whats interesting is it seems most have come across it by chance before its become a problem and ford has not issued a recall(like they would for this anyway when they can just blame full synth....) so I wonder how much of a problem it could potentially become.

Cause I have an 08 FG and now im wondering if I should pull the rocker cover and have a look

I have it from a good source that Ford are aware of the cam issue in the FGs. I think we will find the issue is exactly as I suspected ( manufacture)

I'm another concerned 08 FG owner thinking of pulling off the rocker cover.

Looks to be a bit of a hassle though.

Are the gaskets reusable or do they fall to pieces once the cover is lifted off?

Will wait for arronm's results first though.

Im pretty keen to do just that as I run nulon semi and car was serviced by ford prior to that. I think it's a manufacture issue as well and want to know if I have this problem now.

Anybody know what the go is with the gasket as Tex mentioned.

Also tex...have you even asked for your name to be changed back or are you happy being the leader of the mentally challenged?

Nulon semi, maybe you shouldt take the rocker cover off. But if you do, take a photo , I would be interested to see the colour inside.

Mines may 09, so don't know if it's just limited to early ones, maybe all fg owners should be having a look. Unless they mean all series 1 fg are the early ones.

The gaskets are rubber so should be right to take off, have a look and put back on, but being rubber they do go hard, so probably depends on how many ks on them to what sort of condition there in. Genuine gaskets aren't expensive, cam cover, 6 spark plug tube seals, 2 vct gaskets $113 from ford.

Its an easy job, off , take a look and back on in under an hour. Use same gasket.

Remove fans for 22mm socket so you can turn the crank. Dont forget to take the plugs out to make it easy to turn

Seen the damage across 08,09 and 10 so its not limited to 08 models

But full syn was a common factor in all cases.......

I keep saying it for a reason ........
