im in the same boat cant decide induction or gas.

If there is someone in the family that loves to cook then there is no competition, gas it is

Just walk into any good restaurant kitchen

Gas is also way cheaper than electricity

down side to gas, cleaning, induction is obviously much much easier to clean

House is raised so services are a piece of piss to relocate
You need a larger cable blah blah for the mass amount induction needs on start up.
If u have an older fuse box etc you need to upgrade all that too.

But they go on about it like crazy :/

I already have gas and dont feel kike its anything special.
Smashes electric

But I figured induction was great coz of the fast boiling and all that stuff and precise temperature

Its all marketing hype, that's what makes them go crazy

If it was as good as they say it is, all good restaurants would be changing over their kitchens.

Gas isn't special, its simple, that's what makes it so good.

you want heat, turn the switch and it's there immediately, same for when you want just a little heat, turn it down and it is immediate.

precise?  since when is cooking precise?

I would hazard a guess that someone who is familiar with their gas cook top would be as "precise" with the heat control as with an induction cook top

Well not really because when cooking certain things like caramels and so forth you can pick to the actual degree what temp u need.

Commercial kitchens wont use inductiom beceause most use the hot plate as a grill and also a cooktop.

Im just throwing around pros and cons.
The other one was to have a 900 gas cooktop and then to the left of it a recessed in single induction cookplate so u could use one saucepan (for example your pasta water because its almost instant boil)

The other reason for induction is the recessed flush look which means u can use it as part of the benchtop and put a chopping board over it to maximise space during food prep etc.
And also no flame for little fingers since its in the island it seems safer as it doesnt heat up.

But saying that $$$ seems more reasonable for gas.
