Same style kitchen as ours. Large island bench, similar cabinetry, dark flooring, white edges, grey walls. Only thing is we have grey stone for the bench tops.

Project over Easter was getting the pipes finished to begin filling the tank.  

Had one side done already and it was full from the recent rains but had to cut it open today because I wasn't there for the final bit that morning and the other half and father in law forgot to fit a drainage T piece.

I only broke one joiner while pushing them together the whole time (f*cker).  It ain't pretty but will be covered by dirt/path/gardens anyway, just gotta make sure I tie the filler pipes in a nice straight position to square things off above ground.

The bought water that was already in the tank tastes like plastic though...I think this is due to the (new) tank liner but could it be the water source of the delivery guy?  I'm going to have to make use of the drainage T pieces once more rain starts to come in and get rid of the sh*t tasting water.

Have googled and read about using bi carb in a water tank to get rid of that taste, on a caravan forum.  Have to dump that water of course.

Started sketching the new kitchen... (knoc king out a laundry and extending) ....

Hopefully this is close to the finaly design coz I like it the best so far

Not a fan of sinks in the island, water goes everywhere.

If you can't avoid it make sure you leave enough room on both sides of the sink (ideally sink in the middle)

Big fan of the cross cross tiles splash back, looks hot!!!

In terms of the island I only just got my autocad yeaterday so I have had to use inferior software with minial options

 

I can assure u the sink is not that small and not in that location.... I agree its awkward there but the software left me optionless

I've been to a few new homes with the sink in the island and on one side, their reasoning was they wanted more space for a breakfast bar.

Watching them wash dishes looked awkward as they had dirty and clean dishes on the same side, this is why I recommend if the sink has to go in the island make sure there is adequate room on both sides.

And if there is enough room just make the bench top deeper so there is more room to have eat without being to close to the sink.
