My technique with tiny wires is to double or triple length strip the wire back and fold it up until it's as thick as a standard gauge wire for the red crimp - ratchet crimped and all done.

If only I'd thought of that.

You may notice the other two don't have a filler wire? They are double crimped as was the earth. Filler wire is only temp until I get some non insulated crimps that I can double strip,crimp, solder and heat shrink.

The other end of the cable had a beautiful Mil spec cannon plug. What possessed them to use terminal posts on the end that is exposed to the elements is beyond me.

What is the sensor for Luke, pressure/temp???

It's the pump control signal from the fuel reg. Middle wire suppliers a frequency produced by the pressure transducer in the reg. The pump speed changes base upon this signal.

Ah..So its not running at full pressure at idle. Does it just reduce the voltage , thus reduce the current draw and speed.

The motor in the pump is an AC brushless motor. The unit has an inverter/speed controller built in an the centre pin on the pump is the speed control input.

Based on return flow and rail pressure the pump out pump can be reduced down to 20pc at low loads. End result is quiet pump, less heat into the fuel and reduced electrical load at idle.
