I was looking at renting a particular house many years ago. It was owned by a police couple.

I spoke with the wife. She said that she'd had problems getting rid of the previous tenant, so she had a chat with the plain clothes guys and they did an early morning raid & search.

I didn't end up renting that house.

I'm with Keith. If I ever broke a lease I paid rent until the agent found another person to move in..

So yeah leaving a rental was f*cking pricey sometimes.

That's not what Keith said (or I understood him to say) as I thought he was implying u hd to pay out the rest regardless

Yes they do have to pay until another tenant moves in

But that's very seldom for the whole lease because finding a new tenant is not too hard

We have heaps of applicants, but they're usually majority sh*t ...

But they don't end up paying until the end of the lease unless there's no tenants in which case we have found some already which is common here in sa

And as I stated

It's 2.2 weeks rent to relist

So even though they pay normal rent landlord ends up forking $600 plus $$$ to relist that we don't get reimbursed for

And the head f*ck of new tenants and another 12 month contract

Plus the hassles of move in move out and bond back and all the crap inspections and tenant selections and rubbish

Fark we used to get stung a relisting fee for lease breaks.
