If anyone in interested in trying their car at the circuit, I found Marulan really suits these heavy cars for some reason if you have good brakes. ZF auto is perfectly geared here.

Stopping quickly and 2nd gear acceleration is what's needed at this track and these Turbo Fords with Brembo's have that covered, and scare a lot of Europeans makes. :)

I'll be at a the Marulan Street Car Shootout, Natsoft timed round on Sunday May 25th.

Great pic above, is that bonnet specially made to be partially open at the front to aid cooling? Looks like you've pulled the release and hit the track!

The bonnet at the time was running the stock (high pressure) gas struts which were causing the much lighter fibreglass bonnet to warp badly, especially when hot.

I now have a 2nd set of much lighter gas struts I install with the fibreglass bonnet for track days only. No more warping now.

Ah that makes sense!

I found on the airstrip that at over 200 my bonnet was lifting up (flapping) at the windscreen end. Any idea why that would be? I'm guessing the air flow being forced under there was just too much? Was pretty freaky.

Concentrating more on aero and matching my lap times on street tyres.

Hopefully competing in the NSW Time Attack next year.
