Yes microsoft stopped supporting Windows 98, but you can still install programs on it.We cannot install/load anything new onto our xcal1's. that's the issue.

I have to cancel my custom tune next month because of this. I'm not happy either. But when its not illegal, we can shout at them all we like, what they have done is within theirs rights to do so. It means that they will loose customers though. The best response we can have is to boycott the product completely. But what else is there that is so widely used? You may be able to install programs (use) win 98, but try installing Office 07... 98 (and soon to be XP users) need to upgrade to microsofts latest product to use their latest software. This is kinda like what you are saying!!! You are agreeing with the poster above!!!You NEED AN SCT3 for BF onwards if you WANT TO EDIT ZF's (IF IT EVER HAPPENS!) so you need to upgrade to an SCT3... (ie. Office 07, then you need XP)However, if you are happy to use Office XP, you can still continue to use it ON Windows XP...HENCE, Microsoft just doesn't make it redundant... They allow use as it was intended... And give you the option to continue to USE their product, or trade up if you need to at your convenience!

The fact that they seem comfortable with that is good enough reason to avoid them for fear of the same thing happening down the track.I hope it provokes the competing products to get their software up to the same standard.

They will not build additional features to work with that product (think ZF tuning or support for FG2 PCMs, etc, etc). Basically they have said "You can continue to use this product until it dies a natural death, butwe are not helping you with this product anymore, if anything happens you are on your own with only whatever has been provided thus far".This is not what SCT have done. They have purposely disabled any way of using these devices, and that's it.I'm still happy to take the chance and use mine until it dies a natural death. And when it does, or I buy a car that the X1 doesnt "support" anymore, I'll buy an X3.
